I've ran the 89 performance tune for over a year now from 5 star and am very pleased, snappy, shifts great and better mileage if I can keep my foot outa it.. I have 6" lift 3.55 gears with 35's & it def helped a ton just with the 89 tune.. High flow drop in filter and an exhaust are only mods.. I'm getting the itch to make it "even better" would the 93 tune help much, it's an every day driver..

I've got a '10 5.4L and just changed over to the 93 Performance Tune from 5* after running 89 Performance for about a year as well....

Do it! Right away I could tell a difference seems to have better throttle sensitivity and pulls more than the 89. I can't speak for the MPG change yet as I've been a little heavy footed. I'll be sticking on the 93 for a while now till winter then I'll be bumping back down to the lower economy tune.

I always ran the 91 perf/ tow tune and really liked it. We do have 93 here, so that wasn't an option for me.

For almost two years I was running the 5* 87 Perf/Tow then switched up to the 91 Perf/Tow - can't get the 93 here. The difference was amazing! It really did add a lot of punch to the truck, especially under a heavier foot. And I can't say enough about Mike and his service skills. Not that I expected it but even at 8pm on a Sunday I'd get a response with updates! Anytime I needed a change, he was on it. Just unbelievably awesome.

It's worth saying about five months back I returned to stock and sold off the SCTx3 I was using. Despite my desire to keep the extra perks of a tune, I never could seem to 'dial in' the truck with the tunes that it was using. It always felt to be lacking in refinement - the best word, maybe? - to me. I attribute some of that to the adaptive trans and the perhaps the tunes being set up for performance while I'm almost always light-footed - maybe it just didn't mesh with my driving habits.

I have been thinking about trying the SCT x4 and perhaps a different vendor but I'm just not sure. But if the 5* is working for you, the extra jump to 93 will be really sweet.

Does it matter if the 93 octane has 10% ethanol? Am thinking of getting a set (eco/normal/performance) optimized for 93, but locally they change blends for winter and summer, plus concerned about water/phase separation in the coldest months - with the EB 3.5l is there more risk of detonation on a 93 tune?
