You could use this thing instead of trying to put a strap around the tailgate to keep it up.

Nope, just saw them when I was trying to figure out if I could fit a bike in the back of a raptor with a tool box.

Those latch bars are cool.
I'm like just a flat tire a way from fitting my z400. Left the gate down for yesterday's ride. First time out with this truck.

i dont have any good pics of my atv loaded up in the bed, but i have a raptor 660 with stock suspension and it fits with the tailgate down. what i do though is i unlatch the cables holding the tailgate and i loop them around the posts where the tailgate latches and re-connect them so that the tailgate sits at a 45* angle instead of being completely flat. just extra protection incase a strap breaks or something. also i put 2" blocks in front of the wheels so that when i strap it down the bumper isn't bending the front bed rail into the rear of my cab. i had that happen to me in my 05 powerstoke and i learned from my mistakes...

So I came across this on Instagram. F150 similar to mine & a Yamaha raptor 700 which is also what I have. I also have a tonneau cover like that and am very tempted to try this but at the same time it seems very risky and unsafe lol. Only reason why I would consider it is because I like to have my tailgate up.

Also Keep the "you should have got a 6.5ft box" comments to yourself because I wanted a 5.5ft box with the 4dr as I like the looks of a 5.5ft box better on the full size.

Opinions welcome.

looks all well and good but that is heaveier duty tonneau as compared to your bakflip, that is a over the rail cover and can probably support the weight also thicker, yours is a between the rail and thinner so i would imagine just buckle underload. I have this problem
with my 6.5 ft with my atv, litterly my atv is a inch too big for my box lol!!!

You should have got a 6.5' bed....J/K

I like the looks of the 5.5 bed too. I think the best solution is a small ATV trailer. I know it's something else to store and makes parking a little more difficult, but it sure is nice to load the trailer up and have the bed free for other things with the tailgate up. When I got my trailer, I wondered why I didn't get one sooner - so nice.

ya I noticed it was a little thicker but I didnt notice it was over the rail cover. Thanks for pointing that out. Ya I think without my tonneau cover I could probably close it or it would be very very close but I'm not taking the tonneau cover out lol.

lol

Ya I think thats what I will eventually end up doing in the future that or one of those diamond back covers so I can park the quad up top. We'll see, I'm just being picky wanting the tail gate up lol

Lol my quad would fit if I didnt have a headrack!! but i seen a buddy lose his back window on his brandnew chevy by putting tailgate up and front steel bumper of quad directly againest back window, one bump and bye bye window. expensive lesson i didnt want to learn so for $200 installed headrack day 1 of truck ownership!!!
