Sorry to hear that. Really sucks. Almost bought an eco. Guess I am glad I got the 5.0 and 5.5. Hope Ford steps up for all w/issues For those who bought 6.5 I am sure that is what you needed/wanted same for those w/5.5. Long as we are happy

Say what you want but I get a new truck every year. My last 2 fords have been the 6.5 bed and both had the drive line issue. So yes there is a lot of them that do have the drive line issues. I got the 6.5 bed only for one reason and one reason only. I thought it mite have a better ride. I am sure it is better but not enough to care. My 2012 set to arrive next week will be the 5.5 bed because I was tired of the drive line clunks and I have always thought the 5.5 bed looked much better.

6.5 is what I have now and I like it. I can haul the ATV and be able to close the tailgate which is nice. Leaving the tailgate down will result in nasty rock chips. Sometimes I haul long objects like my tree stand, but I have a headache rack so I just put the long end going over the cab and strap it down.
If I had a trailer for the ATV and whatnot then I wouldn't really care what size the box is. As far as looks go I think both the 5.5 and 6.5 look fine.

I prefer the 6.5' bed for hauling purposes. My truck is used as such and the shorter bed wouldn't get it for me. Plus, I can haul 5 mountain bikes, a small stepladder, portable gas grill, and 6 bundles of firewood with the tailgate UP.

12 ft lumber is definitley do able in a 5.5 but you would have to open the tail gate and tie them down. But try 16 ft or even 14 ft lumber and the 6.5 makes a huge difference. I don't think you could haul 16 ft lumber safely in a 5.5.
