5.5 or 6.5 bed?
#11
6.5' here and I can't believe I ever considered a 5.5'
Heck, I wish there was a 7' option, I would have gone with it!
I still have to turn my motorcycle, but at least it fits with the tailgate closed.
Also, 6.5 leveled and with oversize tires looks like a REAL truck should,

I have the 5.5' bed and love it. I rarely ever have anything bigger than a hockey bag and sticks in mine so a bigger bed would be pointless for me. I have yet to move furniture/beds/garbage or do a dump run and wished I had the extra space. And I agree, looks wise, the 5.5' is nicer. Unless you use your truck for work and/or haul quads or other large toys in the bed all the time the 5.5' bed will be just fine.

I've got a 5.5' bed now, and there's no question I'll move up to the 6.5' bed in my next truck. I want the wider wheelbase for towing and the extra space for hauling larger items.

I wanted the 5.5' bed but could not get it because the HD payload package screw only comes with the 6.5' bed. I was pi$$ed. Now I am glad that I got the 6.5' bed. So I agree, if you need to ask, get the longer bed.
The longer wheel base will be much better for towing also, in case that matters to you.

I don't know about the best looks, the 5.5 always looks stumpy like its a big Explorer sportrac. The salesman tried to talk me into getting the 5.5, but I thought I would be pissed the first time I went to load something simple like a matress in the bed. So I bought the 6.5. By chance after I had the truck a week, my mom called. She had bought a mattress, it was sure nice throwing the mattress in the back and shutting the tailgate. I think if I had to do it over again I would plead for a 8' with my screw.
The 5.5ft bed looks stumpy, the 6.5ft bed is more proportional.
And the 12" of extra wheelbase makes little to no difference in parking. I can get in any parking spot I want too, but I park in the back anyways so nobody can hit me. Backing in to crowded parking spots is the key and get used to being able to looking in your rearview mirror and gauge how far away your rear wheel is supposed to be from the line behind you. I like parking next to other trucks with 4-door 6.5 ft bed and I just match my mirrors to them to make sure I'm not poking out to far or over the line behind me.

I agree that the short bed looks much better, unless you decide to lift. A supercrew 6.5 just looks mean with a 6" lift on it. I did drive a 6.5 and let me say that is one long truck!
