Default 5.0 engine splash guard

I've seen one post on someone who made his own engine splash liner for a 5.0. Under the wheel well there's a HUGE space that I can just see letting in mud and dirt in the engine bay. Are there any prefab options? If I do make my own, will it create too much heat under the hood??? I'm going to try and find the guy who made his and ask him. He used a rubber material and those push in clips.

There's actually been quite a few who have done this.
I will also be doing this soon as the weather is finally breaking. I've have had the rubber & clips since December! Just have to make my template & cut it out. S simple, yet very effective mod!
You'll be fine ....& shame on Ford for NOT doing this to all the F150's.

Pffft I know right. 45,000 dollar vehicles that don't have such a cheap add on. Where did you order the rubber material from?

The rubber was given to me. I know someone who works in a shipping dept and they had an item that came in & they used it for some added protection.
The clips, (Christmas tree clips/plugs), I bought a package of 50 off eBay.
There's a few threads on here, use the search bar.... Itshows detail pics.
I'm on my phone right now, otherwise I'd put the link in here for ya.

I made some over a year ago or so. I bought the rubber from McMaster Carr, push pins at a local parts tore, NAPA, etc.

The bottom is covered by the panel.... So these "holes" are purposely left to vent the heat from the engine compartment especially when the fans kick in... if not mistaken it even says that in the owner manual. Closing them will cause overheating and radiator fans working overtime. There's a reason some guys spend a few more years in education to become engineers ( and make the best selling truck in the world) . Stuff gets slung in centrifugal fashion and little or nothing will get inside the engine compartment. Hope this helps.
