Oil changed when the onboard computer tells me, Mobile 1 5w20 as per engendered specs, Motorcraft filter. Why make things complicated

oil every 5k..just switched to 5w30 kirkland from costco..so far so good!

I have yet to see an oil related failure on the 5.0L. Or any modern engine for that matter. 20 or 30, use whatever. But keep it changed and don’t go 15k intervals.

God I can remember the good old days when we didn't have all these decisions to make. Just plop straight 30 weight in there and be done with it. Many miles later when you had worn it out, you went to 40 weight

you guys will laugh but im changing to 5-30 syn oil from the 5-20 syn. bought the
truck with100,000 miles. i also can spin on an 820s filter. same pattern as the 500 and 400.
anyone else try the bigger filter ?

No laughing from me, perfectly good change.
I did look what was different between the two filters some time ago, but forgot, I don't think there is a reason to change, to the Ford racing version, yes, but not from FL500s to 800.

i still had 3 on the shelf[820s]. anyone know why this engine carries almost 8 gts. of oil ? 5.0 that is .

Combination of trying to extend oil change intervals and how many passages for oil with slow drain-back.
