Default 4x4 problem maybe?

I just got my 13 f150 fx4 about 2 months ago and yesterday we had freezing rain and snow so it was the first time I've used the 4wd. When in 4 high the front wheels seem to bind when turning a corner. It feels like the front diff is locked. The front end skips when making a tight turn (that's the best way I can describe it). I've used 4 wheel drive in my company truck tons of times but was always off-road. This is my first time using it on the roads. Is this normal or is something wrong?

From what I understand, this is normal. My 2013 does the same thing. Usually occurs during very slow, sharp turns especially if you happen to be on a dry surface.

Sounds good. The truck is brand new so I figured it was normal you just never know

Turn 4x4 off in tight turns on pavement. Unless it was full ice you wil,put major stress on the drivetrain. Straight line is no,problem.

I only did it once. I was worried I'd break something because you can literally feel the stress it's putting on the front drivetrain. I was basically turning it on and off when crossing iced up bridges but forgot and left it on for a few minutes. Dang ice is dangerous. I was sideways on I-10 and was literally only doing 5-10 mph. There was carnage everywhere. We even almost witnessed a wreck with some moron crossing the overpasses doing about 45mph while everyone else was just creeping. Some of these people need a brain

As far as I am aware of this will happen with any truck regardless of make or model when you lock it into 4x4. Like one of the previous posts stated unless you are on slick surfaces (mud, ice, snow, sand) you should avoid making sharp turns with 4x4 engaged. I've had the same thing happen in other trucks in the past if for some reason the 4x4 is engaged and I am on paved roads.

The only time you are ever supposed to put a truck in 4wd is when the wheels spin and you are stuck/sliding... ie gravel, ice. Never just driving down the road. Even in snow. It's not AWD. Your truck was doing what it is supposed to, protecting itself from damage.
