36 gal gas tank swap??
I have a 2010 145" Screw 2wd with the 26 gal tank. There's a complete 36 gal tank off a wrecked 2009 I can get my hands on here locally. Does anyone know if I would have any problem swapping the tank out?? I plan to get the complete 36 gal tank, with pump, filter, sender, straps, etc.
Thanks for your comments.

I did do the tank swap. Everything fit, and I'm back up and running. I found a 2009 36 gal tank off a 4wd and successfully put it in my 2010 F150 2wd screw. All plugs and fuel connections were compatible. The sender seems to be working fine, but, obviously, the miles to empty won't be correct. You have to drop the drive shaft or the exhaust syaytem for access.

Phew, now u don't have to stop for gas as much. All is right in the world again.

Some folks are more limited than others. As for me, I get to fuel up at work, so a big tank is worth a lot of bucks to me. Others that tow a bunch may enjoy the extended range.
Sorry that my little weekend job didn't float your boat.

The dealer may be able to update the tank size by switching the "Tank Selection" from tank 1 to tank 2 with the IDS software, and update the Fuel Capacity to 136 liters.
Not sure if it will let them do that, but wouldn't hurt to try i guess

Just filled up at work, and with the tank reading full, I show about 470 miles to empty, same as before. I imagine that the dealer could reflash to fix that quirk, but I don't use that particular feature, so it's unimportant to me. I generally reset one of the trip odometers when I filll, and use that as a back-up to my gas gauge, so my old system will still be fine.
Here's idle conjecture - as the tank approaches empty, the miles to empty will approach being correct. The miles to empty will be way conservative when the tank's full, but become more accurate as the fuel level dwindles.

I wonder if you run the tank nearly dry if the computer will re-calibrate itself. So if you run it down and it says 0 miles left for like 150 miles while you are still driving then you fill all the way back up if the computer will figure it out.
