slack in the driveline, probably nothing, maybe slip joint to be greased. cold weather is why your mileage is slipping, my truck mpg is lower till the transmission temp gets up to normal. usually takes a good 15 minutes, engine comes up pretty quickly. this also may have something to do with the shudder. where are you located, colder states have a winter blend fuel.

Usually greasing the teeth where the drive shaft inserts into the transfer case fixes the click, but wares off after time!

Mpgs will dropp in the winter, thats normal winter blend gas does this.

Shudder may be caused by bad plugs, or incorrect gap on them!

TODDMAN Speaks the truth.

My mileage sucks in the winter time too. Its down to 14.2 average while it sits around 17 in the summer.

I'd pull them and get new plugs installed. Make sure they are gaped correctly.

My ford truck and van with efi use more fuel during the cold months due to the increased density of the colder air.

No, it's because of winter blend fuels. Denser (colder) air actually increases engine efficiency.

But people also sometimes forget that the colder air causes the ECU to keep the fuel mixture richer during warm up, which takes longer in colder climes/months. All the "little things" can add up to lower mpgs, like a bit of spinning tire syndrome on ice/snow/etc.

Sounds like you're about normal OP...

Motorcraft SP-534 they come gapped at .030. I'd check them to make sure before installing them.
