I love the 3.7 screw i got. i got a k&n and dual exhaust on it. I sounds good runs great. i have 27000 miles on it. u should trade in on it. IMO its way better than the 4.6. i raced a 5.3 chevy silverado and won by a truck.

wait. what?
I'm a big fan of the 3.7. it's an awesome all-around motor as long as you don't demand ridiculous amounts of towing and hauling out of your tuck (its plenty capable of smaller loads) and its great on gas. I've never seen one in my shop for any strange mechanical issues like I see on Eco's and 5.0's frequently. IMO the 4.6 absolutely sucks in comparison, I would definitely do the trade if I were you.

12000 miles on mine, love it! Tow or haul hay bales twice a month without any issues in the Arizona heat. Best truck I've owned in a while by far. Tow haul mode in the 6 speed auto with trans braking is a great set up, matched perfectly imo. I can get over 23 mpg empty to the feed store and 17.5 mpg with over 1200 pounds of feed in the bed, im a happy camper!

Don't forget that these problems aren't as widespread as this forum makes it seem. Compared to the amount of f150 owners, the people who have these problems are a small minority, so don't let it scare u away from getting the ecoboost or 5.0.

Depending on cab, bed, 4x4 or 4x2, tow ratings vary from 5,500 to 6,100 pounds. Tow ratings are notoriously overstated, but about 5,000 pounds max trailer weight would be a realistic tow rating. So as long as you don't try to tow more than about 5,000 pounds, the 3.7 V6 should be adequate for your towing needs. Unloaded, or lightly loaded, it should be more than adequate.

Yep, test drove a 3.7L Scab 4x4 just for the heck of it, and it felt just as strong as my Mountaineer which has a 4.6L 2v, Magnaflow exhaust, CAI, a tune, and weighs 500# less. Not many on the road though, the local dealer moves ~50 f150s a year and out of the 100 trucks he sold in the last 2 years, only 3 have had the 3.7L. The Scab 4x4 I test drove last week was a 2011, the only remaining 2011 on the lot.

Make no mistake, while the 3.7 is an upgrade over the Tritons, it is the weakest motor in the F150 lineup. You wont hear an EB owner talk about only towing 6k pounds. The 5.0 essentially replaced the old 5.4 in the power department. I for one, dont like a motor that sounds like it is about to explode to make its power.
What the 3.7 is having to do at 6,000 rpm, the EB can do at 2,000 rpm.....

I think the towing/payload is underrated for this engine. I've exceeded payload and it felt fine.
