Default 3.7 transmission problems?

Got a 2011 screw 2WD, transmission had the delay when shifting into reverse or drive after its been sitting awhile(few hours) and on the highway if I go to pass someone and lay into it it keeps the Rpms high looking for a gear and when it finally shifts the a hard surge... Had it under warranty and took it to ford and them flashed the transmission and it fixed it, we'll now it's back again and worse but wont do any of it if I put it in tow/haul mode( shifts fine)
Now I'm at 38000 miles on it and I'm wondering of anybody knows what's wrong and if it'll be covered under warranty( first time ford had it was at 34,500 miles) still under warranty

Sounds like something valve body related. If its malfunctioning this badly I would take it to the dealer immediately and show them, especially if it does it all the time.

Tristan Ford has a 5 yr/50,000 mile powertrain warranty. So you good there. Good luck, sounds like they may need to go inside the tranny. My 2011 had some of the same problems as yours that were fixed by the reflash. It still had an occasional 4 to 5 harsh shift. The Tech said he would have to pull the tranny to fix that (Valve body as diesel said). I didn't because it was rare. Hope they get you fixed up soon.

I thought it was 60K mile? I could be wrong though, either way he is covered.

I'm with XLTall I'm pretty sure Fords Warranty is 3yr/36K Miles complete vehicle warrant, 5/60K on power train and unknown yr/100k on emissions.

I appreciate guys I'll be calling to get an appointment tomorrow, just scared that my local ford house is a bunch of morons, it took them 3 days just to try the reflash the first time and they said that they couldn't figure it out then.
But I'll give it another try , next closest ford house is 2 hours away

tristan2011,

I'm sure your dealer will get to the bottom of this for you! Let me know how it goes. I'm happy to help if you need me.

Thank you Ashley, I'll def come to you if there's a problem, small town dealerships can be a pain to deal with though

Agreed, we have the same problem as they are more into sales than service (service department is at the main dealership 45 minutes away)
