Hello everyone,
I drive a 2013 F-150 and am getting fed up with seeing the newer trucks with their beautiful wheels. Naturally, I decided I had to get them on my truck. I was wondering how easy it would be to put the 2017 wheels on my current 2013 truck. Will they hook right up, or will I need modifications in order to fit? Thank you.
I swapped wheels on my '11 with some Sport wheels from a 2015. Lug spacing is all the same. I did need new lug nuts since my old ones under a center cap were the wrong style. Would depend on what your old wheels had. Thread size did change in 2014. Also the newer TPMS sensors do not sync up with 2014 or newer systems.

Any information on how you fixed the TPMS sensors? Where did you get your new lug nuts? Finally, do you have a picture of your truck? I'd love to see the rims on our gen F-150. Thank you!
You need your lugs and tpms. You just have to reuse them, not anything that came from the 17. Have the sensors swapped over. The wheels have been identical config since 2004. If you are pushing width issues with large tire or crazy suspension, pay attention to it. But regular F150 stock Ford wheels are pretty much all the same dimensions.
If your truck has exposed lug nuts, the simple solution is just to reuse them. The 13th Gen trucks use the same bolt pattern, but a different-sized lug, so you can’t use the 13th Gen lugs on your 12th Gen truck, but the 13th Gen wheels are compatible with the 12th Gen lug nuts.
As for the TPMS senders, you’ll have to get them replaced; 12th and 13th TPMS systems are incompatible. A good tire shop should be able to handle that for you. You should be able to reuse the TPMS senders from your current wheels, but they only have a limited lifetime (~7 years, IIRC), so you’d probably be money ahead to get new ones.
Another tidbit, depending on what you want or have.........OEM 18" and 20" are totally interchangeable. If you have 18's and swap to 20's (or vise versa), does not cause any problems. Depending on what you currently have, you can make some cash back. Sometimes worth buying new sensors instead of reusing your old ones.
What I did with mine was..........
1........sold 2012 wheels and rubber complete with tpm sensor.......easy sell
2........purchase new takeoffs wheel / rubber combo
3........remove new style OEM TPMS from new wheel combo and sold them, again easy sell.
4.......purchase aftermarket TPMS for the 2012 model, and had tire shop install.
After all the buying and selling, ended up costing me $400 for a brand new set of wheels and rubber.
AZ F-150- I replaced my TPM sensors as they have a 7-10 year battery life span. I happened to have a a TPMS activation tool already. Dropped my wheels off at my tire guy and then stopped in a few days later to put them on the truck. Gorilla lug nuts came from Amazon, were almost as much as the wheels!
Thank you all for your answers, this is very helpful to me. I, unfortunately, do not have exposed lug nuts. I have the stock XLT 5 spoke wheels, with the lug nuts under the center cap. Does that change anything?
