I have been having some intermittent issues with my 2014 F150. I was hoping to gain some insight on what the problem could possibly be before visiting the ford dealership.
Problem: It has been randomly shifting into 5th gear while drive less than 10 mph. I have also had it get stuck in 1st gear until the rpm gets high and then it'll shift normally. I noticed while this is all happening my speedometer will show 0 mph. Recently, while I was driving 60+ mph, the speedometer began to jump around sporadically until it finally stopped working completely. At this point, I got a check engine light with, no speedometer, no mpg, no odometer, truck would only shift into gears 3-5, and I also noticed my GPS location stuck where the incident happened. (I'll attach a photo of the gauges when it happened) Anyway, I restarted the truck at a red light, and the check engine light went away and has been driving normally since.
I thought it could possibly be an electrical issue or sensor issue, but I really have no idea. When the speedometer is not acting up, the truck drives flawless, so I have ruled out a bad transmission.
Any idea would be very appreciated.

Check to see if your truck is part of the transmission leadframe extended warranty. Looks like that is your issue....that extended warranty is good for 10 yrs 150,000 miles. Call the Ford service department, explain the issue and they should be able to get you in. My repair took 1/2 a day. They should also do a flash on the transmission. Going forward starting changing the transmission fluid in the pan every 30k miles or so.
It's not. 2014s are not yet part of the recall/warranty extension. But, that does sound suspiciously like the OSS issue. Look for a P0720 code. Perhaps the software update (which is the recall) could be applied to a 2014, even if it isn't labeled as part of the recall group.
I am going to run to my local shop tomorrow and have them run it. Will they be able to find the past service codes, if the service light is no longer on?
Depends on the code. These codes should stick, it did for me. Don't know that it will mean anything, though, since you are not on the list for the extended warranty. This OSS problem is a huge mess. Read up on the problem around here if you want. If you feel it is appropriate, report it to the NHTSA. The more people who report, the more likely your 2014s will get included in the recall someday.
Parts are very cheap on amazon and a good independent shop should be able to fix it for you. I just took it to Ford with parts I bought off of amazon since I didn’t want to take any chances. Had exact same symptoms as you and it was the lead frame. I’d take it into a dealer and see if Ford will cover portion of it or goodwill it all together.

Hi kwade89, Were you able to resolve this issue? I have a 2014 F150 5.0 that is having the same problem.
