I just made my first payment on a 2014 F150 Lariat, Supercrew. In the morning I am taking it to the shop for the 7th time. The truck feels like it has a constant bounce when in motion. It is more pronounced at 25 mph and 48-50 mph. There is also a bouncing feeling when I brake quickly from speeds around 60 mph. I feel a washboard effect when backing out of the driveway.


So far the dealer has told me: Drive it another 300 miles and see if it evens out (that didn't work), two rear tires were out of round and could not be balanced. They replaced both tires (that didn't work). Wait a week for the new service manager to start (that didn't work). The front right tire was out of round and could not be balanced. They replaced both front tires (that didn't work). They told me to bring it back tomorrow and they will start from the beginning.


Any ideas would be helpful since I'm pretty sure I'll get nowhere tomorrow. I had mucho problems with this dealer before I traded in my 2008 Sport Trac.

 

First idea? Take it to another Ford dealership/service department that actually know what the hell they are doing. That's insane that you have had that many problems before you just made your first payment. Something is seriously wrong.

 

Since you have not had any luck with the current dealer, are you able to take it to another. Maybe a change of scenery will help, if you have another close by...

Also, were these problems not present when you test drove it?

 

Assuming that you have checked your shocks? One of my front shocks blew out, and that tire was bouncing pretty bad...

 

Does sound like a bad shock/strut??

 

Maybe. Those speeds could be at shift points. Next time when you feel it try and use manual mode and drop a couple gears just to make sure you vibe isn't from lugging...

Long box or short?

 

Not sure why people are ragging on the dealership. They found tires out of round, and actually replaced them. Sounds like they are well on their way at troubleshooting this issue.

Jeez.., people complain that dealerships refuse to replace stuff, now they are complaining when the dealership actually tries to fix something.

I'd suggest continuing to let the dealer troubleshoot the issue. If they are willing to fix it, let them. Might take a few tries. That's how you troubleshoot in some cases.

 

If you keep having to take the truck in for the exact same issue and they cant figure it out, why keep going back. Time is money.

 

Have they ruled out the rims? Id imagine so but worth checking the run out on them too. They may be jumping straight to the tires when they see it out of round and overlooking the possibility of it being the rim.

Keep on em and it will get straightened out eventually and you will love your truck!!
