2014 F150 Governor Help
Hey guys, I recently upgraded f150s from a 94 300 to a 2014 SCrew 5.0 4x4 f150. Well today I decided to race my boss who has a 2014 raptor. Got to 100 mph and my truck stopped accelerating immediately.
So naturally my first assumption is that I have some sort of governor. So I need some help figuring out how I can remove it. Not that I have a need to go over 100 mph, I just dont like the thought of something on my truck limiting my speed. Thanks ahead of time for the assistance!

If you want to remove the limiter, (I have done just that) on my truck, you will need an SCTX4 or equivalent tuning device. The majority of folks use sct at least in this forum.
But yeah I agree when I pay $30k+ for something, I want all I can get out of it, not that I exceed the speed limit but,... well it's a principle. If I bought it I damn well better get all of it and not just a piece of it.

I also hate the limiter. You can easily turn if off with an aftermarket tuner. And then go have some fun. Let people like "go postal" complain all they want.

This is pretty much my thought process. I just couldn't figure out how to say it.

Going 100 mph isn't the lmit, but there are mechanical limits within the vehicle from going over 100 mph. I don't know the limitations on the ford trucks, but the driveshaft rpms, gear speed (how fast they can actually spin) in rear end, tires, etc should be verified on how fast you can actually go without causing damage.
I am sure it is beyond 100mph and I would guess most would be fine up to 140 if not more. But this isn't a sports car and was not designed to go that fast. FYI I did use the sct x4 to set mine to 125 which is the max it will allow before the no limit option.
I would also suggest taking this to the drag strip. It is fairly cheap to go. Much, MUCH, cheaper than a ticket and point and probably your license suspended.

The speed limiter is usually set by the factory to keep you from exceeding the speed rating of the tires.

In the past I bought tuners for my trucks to remove the speed limiter. Now in my "old" age of 35, I left the speed limiter on when I tuned my truck.
Maybe it's maturity, maybe it's because I have a family to care for now, maybe it's because having a bike that would go well into triple digits makes anything else feels slow, but I've had this truck to just around it's top governed speed and don't care at all for the lack of stability and have no desire to go that speed again in this thing. Sure, the truck feels stable enough in a straight line but you never know when you'll have to swerve or do a panic stop.
But yeah, pretty much any tuner will remove the limiter.
