2013 Lariat Screw Remote Start Range

F150 Greenhorn
I just recently (2 days ago) ordered a new 2013 Platinum with the 'remote start'. Is there a way to know if I'm getting the 'long range' or the 'short range' version??
Should I not order this with the vehicle but rather have the dealership install it later?
(and yes, I prefer to have a FORD remote start installed vs an aftermarket).

My 2013's range is better than my 2011's. you still have to be in line of site for longer distances but shorter distances it will work pretty much where ever. I wish our remotes had the two way functionality like my girlfriends 2013 fusion titanium does. Her fob has a little light that turns green when it starts or flashes red when it is not in range.

Yes I have the stock four button remote. The 2013 fusion titanium comes standard with the two way indicator light for the remote start. It's in between the lock and unlock button.

Viper FTW! Great range, can start it from my bedroom 3 stories up and at the back of the house. I can usually start it when leaving the plane when deboarding!

There isn't anything better. Start my truck leaving Gillette Stadium after a Patriots game a mile away and it's ready to go when I get there.

Depends on what you want. I got the dealer to throw in a series 100 plug n play on mine because I don't want extra stuff on my key chain & I will be using it to start it in the house. So 50' away max. Plus the price $0 can't be beat.

Has anyone hooked up a Viper/aftermarket remote start? I have the the factory (4-button key) remote start installed and I've grown tired of the extremely poor reception. (Some days it barely works within 10' of the truck).
My one requirement is that the door keypad must still work. That is a very convenient feature that I've grown fond of. I'm not necessarily interested in the smartphone start - I don't need that kind of range.
I know Travis at KCAutoSound has some setup where the Compustar remote can be setup to do all this, but I don't want an alarm - I just want 2-way remote start w/o breaking the bank.
