Default 2013 Lariat Screw Remote Start Range

The range on the factory remote start on my new Lariat is terrible. It basically defeats the purpose of remote start. What kind of range are you all getting on your truck's remote start? My Gmc would start from inside a store to half way across the parking lot. Very disappointed in my Ford's remote. I love my truck though. It is ten times a better truck than my 2008 GMC Sierra was.

I get the same range I got with my 2010 regular remote, line of sight is about it, 100 yards or so. Planning to replace the whole thing like I always have with aftermarket that has two way and range of a mile, less of course with interferance.

On my Chevy with an Avital remote start, I would place the fob under my chin with my mouth open, and it would start how ever far I was. Didn't believe it til I tried it. Hopefully this Friday I will know how much range on the F150 RS.

I installed the Ford plug & play long range remote start ( CL3Z-19G364-A ) and it works as well as any aftermarket units owned in the past.
The feedback read here on the base unit is why my decision was to go with the long distance unit and haven't regretted it.

I just recently (2 days ago) ordered a new 2013 Platinum with the 'remote start'. Is there a way to know if I'm getting the 'long range' or the 'short range' version??

Should I not order this with the vehicle but rather have the dealership install it later?

(and yes, I prefer to have a FORD remote start installed vs an aftermarket).

I had the 100 series installed on mine. The range is terrible compared to the Clifford I had on my '01 Chevy. I have to be looking at my truck in order for it to start. I heard the 200 series has twice the range. I guess I should have gone that route.

Honestly, skip the stick remote and get a viper remote two after market. You will thank me. You never know when the fricken thing works. Sometimes it does sometimes it don't. With Viper you can get the phone app or the key chain and both will tell you your truck has been started.
