2013 FX4 Ecoboost transmission fluid change
Experience with the 6R80 says that you should definitely change before the 150,000 mile interval. As transmission parts wear, tiny metal particles become suspended in the fluid. Some get caught by the filter, some get caught by the magnet, but some remain suspended. These can be mildly conductive, causing issues with all of the submerged electrical components. One component of the lead frame recall fix is to add a foam strip around the lead frame solenoid contacts to prevent the semi-conductive fluid from getting in there. It's good to change fluid more often. Some people have also added a second magnet to the pan to try and pull more metal particles from out of the fluid.
If you're comfortable changing any of the fluids at the max schedule, then go for it. But if you talk to actual mechanics who work on these everyday, they'll tell you the OEM's are nuts, towing or not.
Especially if you go the full duration between oil changes, like on the EcoBoost engines, its horrible for it. The turbos require clean oil on the compressor bearing, all the time. I change oil on 2003 (299K) & 2013 (200K) every 5-6K miles, tranny approx 75K miles.
