2013 FX 5.0 Starting Issue
It looks like have have the first issue with my truck. I live in a a very rural area, and work from home, so my F150 only gets driven every 10 days to 2 weeks. The last couple of times I went to start it, here's what happened: Put the key in the ignition, dash lit up like normally, but engine wouldn't crank. No sound whatsoever. After trying several times, I let it sit for a couple of minutes, then without any other action on my part, I turned the key and it turned over like normal. I drove about 50 miles into town, did some shopping, and the same thing happened again. No crank on first several tries, waited a couple of minutes, then it just started up like normal.
Have any of you guys ever experienced anything like this. Truck only has 12K miles on it.

Try this....
Put key in ignition and slightly lift it or wiggle it without turning it.
See if your dash Lights come on. If so you need a new ignition cylinder.
This happens with my '13, a guy at emissions told me about it, mine has never caused issues like yours but he said it would.
Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion, Allinkdupp. But I think maybe we are talking about two different issues. My dash lights up just fine when I put the key in the very first time, and I get the chime sound. What is not occurring is when I turn the key to start the car, the engine will not turn over. No sound whatsoever. After trying a few times, then letting the car sit for a couple of minutes, it will start just fine.
I'm talking about wiggling the key and things turning on when they aren't suppose to, mine does it and needs replaced.
I just can't think of anything else in your case.
It's a bummer though, hope you figure it out.
I understand what you are saying, an ignition cylinder/key would do that.

OP, hope your's is an easy fix.
I had that happen to my '04 Lincoln LS--when I turned the key, everything happened normally, just like on a regular start, except no cranking--and it turned out to be a bad starter relay. On the LS, the starter relay and horn relay had the same specs and were right next to each other in the engine compartment "power distribution" (fuse) box, so it was easy to swap them; lightly tapping the relay with the handle of a screwdriver could also get the relay to unstick. Looks like the F-150's starter relay is in the Battery Distribution Box, which I think is the fuse box atop the radiator (AllData's diagram shows the relay position (next to fuses 13 and 14) in the box, but not the box location).

Called dealer to arrange service. Was going to drop truck at dealer today and they were going to look at it tomorrow. Now the dang thing won't start at all. Dashboard lights up just fine, radio will work, etc., but engine will not turn over. Looks like I will have to have truck towed. Truck is in park, and steering wheel appears to be locked in place. How do I release these so that the tow guy can get the truck up on his flatbed without "dragging it?" Any suggestions?

If so check your brake interlock fuse, this might actually be your problem.
There is a shift lock release procedure in your manual under transmission, your tow truck driver should know how to do this aswell.
