I have a 2013 and changed batteries and have had no problems so I don't know how Forscan is needed but there are other things.
There are two rings in the system sort of like amp-clamps: one on positive wire to battery and one on negative wire to battery. They feed information to the PCM about battery state. I would make sure those rings aren't damaged in some way and check the wiring and connectors to make sure you get good contact. If the light still stays on, several here have just removed the ring on the ground to battery to prevent the PCM thinking something is wrong with the charging system.
I have mine still hooked up.

If it is a Forscan repairable issue a fault code for these PIDs may show up (some or all)
You might have to clear a DTC

GENBPLUS_C… ------------------ Generator Current Sensor Corrected Value
GENBPLUS_F ----------------- High Resistance/Open In Generator, Battery Or PCM Circuits
GENBPLUS_I… ------------------ Maximum Generator Current Available At Present Conditions….
GENBPLUS_S… ---------------- Generator Current Sensor Input Circuit Status
GENBPLUS_S… -------------- Generator Current Sensor
GENBPLUS_S… ---------------- Generator Current Sensor Circuit Input Voltage
GENCMD -------------- Generator Command
GENCMD_LF ------------- Generator Command Line Fault
GENFIL ----------------- Generator Fault Indicator Lamp
GENMON -------------- Genrator Monitor
GENMON_FS----------------- Generator Monitor Frequency Status
GENMON_HZ------------------ Generator Monitor Frequency
GENMON_LS ----------------- Generator Monitor Line Status
GENVDSD ----------------- Generator Voltage Desired
GEN_FAULT ----------------- Generator Fault Status

BATT_V_INF -----------------Voltage At The Battery Terminals - Inferred
BATT_DISCH… --------------0 To 9 Value - Depth And Duration Of Battery Discharge - Infer….
BATT_VLO_A…------------ Very Low Battery Voltage Disabling Air Conditioner Operation
BATT_VLO_F… ------------Cooling Fan Operation Changed By Low Battery
BATT_VLO_F… ------------After Run Cooling Fan Operation Changed By Low Battery

As you can see there are a lot of PIDs. I've even found redundant PIDs in other areas. Some of these may apply or not depending on your year and trim. It may be a simple matter of just clearing codes as I stated above but if you're going to this trouble you should check out your wiring and connectors.

If clearing codes and checking wiring won't help maybe one of the rings is broken or something.

There is a reset of the BMS that should be done after replacing either battery or alt. Could possibly be the problem for some, if replacements are solid.

Could also be wires are damaged. A friend was having all sorts of odd behavior and codes. Replaced the somewhat corroded negative battery cable and all problems were solved. This was on a hybrid sedan.
