2012 Visor Vanity Mirror Door is loose and staying open
Hi all,
I searched the forums for this issue but haven't been able to find anything specifically addressing it.
I have a 2012 Super Crew FX2. The drivers side sun visor has the lighted vanity mirror and I have noticed the cover does not close all the way which leaves the mirror light on sometimes. I did some searched and did find a Ford Service Bulletin specifically addressing this issue: TSB 13-5-30. I was trying to drill down some part numbers and from what I can find, Ford only sells a complete visor replacement.
My question is this; is there a simpler solution to this small issue instead of replacing the entire visor? Mine has the garage door opener and I'd rather not put that kind of money into it. I thought about simply engineering something to keep it shut...velcro possibly or maybe wedge something in the hinge area to give it some friction.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks in advance.

I just have a wax applicator pad wedged in there right now but I'm going to replace it as my home link button pad is messed up also. But I'm sure you could maybe use Velcro or something maybe. I also have a 12 fx2 screw same as OP.

Resurrecting an old thread because I'm experiencing the same problem and I don't want to resort to a "clip" (besides it has the Homelink buttons so I don't need an external garage door controller).
Has anyone attempted the TSB fix themselves? It seems a straightforward process, and $17 for the mirror cover is way cheaper than the now discontinued full sunvisor (Charcoal, illuminated mirror, garage opener) going for $250+ on eBay.
