Default 2012 peeling tailgate oval??????

I got home from work last week and just happened to look at my tailgate and noticed the blue was totally gone from the oval. Last time I washed it, maybe 2 weeks prior it was perfect. I'm wondering what the hell happened... did somebody peel it off or did it come off on its own? Anybody else experience this? I know the earlier years had some problems with them fading or something like that or the whole thing simply falling off..
Since its still under warranty the dealership made good on replacing it with no hassles at all. Looks like new again!!!

2006 was the year of fading ovals, at least on the front. It seemed like it was more common with the Superduty's.

That's good that yours was covered under warranty

My ecoboost emblems have a weird outline that looks like water damage lines. When I go to the dealership I'm going to have them replace them.

Well maybe we are on to something here guys with the 2012 models. Totally pissed me off when I saw mine and wondered what the hell was going on. We have had some unusually cold freezing /sleet/snow weather down here and they salted the roads. I wonder if this has anything to do with it or not. We are NOT used to that kind of stuff here. Anyway, I'm kind of relieved that I'm not the only one with a problem with the tailgate oval on the 2012s bit sad that this is happenning....they should have had this crap fixed a while ago...

I had this happen on my 2011 and it turned out in the winter I used the high pressure drive through wash it peels the emblem off. Happened 2 times dealer replaced both times, now I hand spray wash.

I've seen 2004 models with this, must've started with the body style change.

Well, now that is interesting. I went thru a drive thru car wash, which I rarely do, just after a salting of the roads event to get the salt off the truck. I wonder if that is where I lost it. Said car wash USED to be touchless but after inserting the money and entering I realized it had been retrofitted with soft touch stuff....maybe this is where I lost it.

I have a 2013 and both my front and rear emblems have this problem of the blue part separating and beginning to peel off. I always hand wash my truck and have no idea why this is happening. Maybe the heat here in Hawaii? Haven't taken it to the dealer yet though.
