Default 2012 FX4 4x4 HELP!!

I was working on my truck over the weekend and I had the driver side dash off with the 4x4 switch disconnected. I turned the key to start the truck and then shut it off. It was only on for a few seconds. Now when I start the truck after maybe 10 seconds on my screen I get a check the 4x4 system message. I have searched all over for an answer and cant find away to reset this error. Also the illumination on the switch works and the electronic locker works. When I switch it to 4hi or 4lo nothing happens. I looked in the manual and if says if you get this error see your dealer. Is there a way to reset this or is it a dealer only?

Did you disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the ECU?

Yes I did. I am trying it again right now for a longer period of time to see if that works.

With the battery disconnected, tap the brakes a few times. What this does is help drain any remaining charge left in the system. Not sure if it will help your exact case.

Sounds like a fail safe lock out maybe you didn''t disconnect the battery before disconnecting the 4x4 switch?

Did you drive it to see if the 4x4 is engaged or not?

Yes I tried driving it and no 4x4 just the locker. I have disconnected the battery but have not tried to do anything else to make sure the electrical is drained. On a side note we had to do something similar on my buddies 2012 5.0 mustang cause every time he tried to use his tuner we would get an over voltage error so we would have to drain the system down restart the car and then shut it off to load the tune. The guy at the shop that did the tuning said he had never seen anything like it. Do you guys think this is a system error that can be reset like a DTC code or is this something with a procedure that would be in a actual dealer maint manual. Like turn the key 5 times, pump the breaks twice and whatever else the ford engineers could come up with.

I would take it to the dealership... It's a 2012... It should still be under warranty...
