I think I am having the same issue. I just hit 2000 miles on the truck. Upon cold start up it seems to put out an unusual amount of white smoke. Im pretty sure its condensation but it seems excessive and kind of makes sense having seen these other posts. The truck runs great but i am starting to notice a slight shutter. If i am having these issues will the dealer fix my intercooler?

I just had mine replaced last Friday (Dec 7th) on my 2011 with 17k miles. It took the dealer 3-1/2 weeks to get the CAC and deflector shield (apparently my cats were fine).

I experienced the "issue" on two separate occasions. Both were times when it was raining steadily for hours on long road trips. I was on cruise control both times...once at 62mph and the other at 70mph and when I applied power to pass, it fell on its face and felt like the engine had completely shut off. I pedaled it a couple times (cycled the throttle...increasing the input a little more every time) until it cleared and it drove fine within 20-30 seconds.

I can't comment on fuel economy as I'm still on the first tank of fuel since the repair, but I've driven it in a constant rain for over an hour since, and it performed flawlessly.

So based on this, if your EC has over say 10K on it, are you out of the woods on this issue? Seems that most are happening before the first 5K?

About 2 weeks ago I was driving to work on the highway in heavy fog with light misting. I was accelerating when all of a sudden...violent shaking. The truck wouldn't accelerate over 55 mph and would shake whenever I was on the accelerator.

I was in the middle lane so I signaled and made my way over to the side of the road, coasting to a stop. I let the truck sit for a second and all was good.

I called up the dealer and they told me to bring it in. They set me up with a loaner (which they covered) and sent me on my way. They called me up later that day and said they believe it was an intercooler issue and pretty much read me the TSB. The part was backordered so they issued an emergency order (?) and had my truck ready for pick up in 2 days.

I was pleased that they took care of it immediately (though not so pleased that I had the issue in the first place). I have a question for the forum though...

I didn't read in the work order that they flashed the computer. Is this 100% necessary? What are the effects of not flashing the computer after the fix?

I can only speak for my 2011 in the post above yours, but both of my occurrences happened between 11k and 15k miles.

Default Intercooler / Shutter Problem

I own a 2011 F150 SCREW 4WD with 28,000 Miles. I purchased it new and in the last 15 months I had two incidents, both on interstates, where when I need to accelerate, once merging onto an interchange, the other making way for a Semi-tractor, the engine would not accelerate and RPMs dropped substantially, leaving me coasting almost as if in neutral. In both instances I was at about 55 - 60 MPH lifted foot off of accelerator for a brief second, then attempted to accelerate out of the situation...nothing but lost power for a few seconds that seems like longer.

Last week my Check Engine light came on and and ODB Scan revealed P0430, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). Took it to the dealer today and they said it was the Intercooler problem identified in the TSB. They are replacing the Cooler, the shield, and the catalytic converter (on one side) if that makes sense. They had to order parts.

Other than the two instances the only symptom was a loss of fuel mileage that I attributed to needing a new Air Filter which did not relieve the fuel mileage issue. Two weeks later the check engine light popped on.

Thanks all for their input...I thought the highway loss of power was my tendency to drive with the tip of my shoe. LOL.
