Default 2012 ecoboost break in

Alright Men, if I could get some good advice it would be greatly appreciated. I recently purchased a new 2012 fx2 ecoboost in oxford white.

During my time at the stealership, I had asked several questions to my salesman. For the most part he was very helpful and informative, but when i asked about the break in period for the ecoboost engine platform. I received the most confused and disoriented looks from him. His response was that there is no such break in period, just drive as I usually do and to change the oil at the 3000 mile mark. I have to say that i am not 100% confident with this answer...

I now have 136 miles on Whitey, have not drove him over 70mph yet and it is killing me not to just push the dam pedal through the floor and see what he can do...

Thanks

I believe the manual says vary your speed, avoid full throttle acceleration and don't tow a trailer the first 1,000 miles. In other words, city driving.

In terms of getting maximum gas mileage, its considerably longer than that.

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drive
continuously at the same speed for the first 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of
new vehicle operation. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.
Drive your new vehicle at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before towing a
trailer. For more detailed information about towing a trailer, refer to
Trailer towing in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.

I towed my 19 ft boat weekly with less than 500 miles. The rest of the time was spent with full throttle bursts and burnouts playing with my new toy. I have 23k on it now and. Its runnin sweet, best to date fuel economy is 24 on the highway with cruise set and 60 for a 200 mile stretch, commuting to work with is about balf city high seattle freeway traffic i get 19. Drive it like you stole it to break that bitch it!

You probably shouldn't listen to me but here's what I do.

I drive all my new vehicles like I stole them for the first 100 miles (I hit red line a few times, but not often) and then avoid the hwy for the first 1000. I have never had a new motor burn a drop of oil.

Just drive. Its not like normal driving has you on the rev limiter for hours on end..... Just drive how you drive and dont worry about it.

Why change the oil at the 3000 mile mark? Maybe the first one.... But I wouldn't change it that often after that. I change my oil when the truck tells me to.
As far as break in, I drove mine nice most of the time for the first thousand miles. But, I did "goose it" every now and then too. My engine runs smooth as butter, and doesn't burn a drop of oil. My engine is the 5.0, but I think break in periods are the same for all engines.
