Default 2012 Cooled Seats issue maybe??

When i first turn on my cooled seats they seem to work great. I can feel air coming out of the seat everywhere. After awhile it seems like it stops working. No air movement and the eat doesnt feel very cool. Is this normal? Do they turn on and off ? Cycle?

I know the heat setting stays hot and gets very warm. I was hoping the cool function would work the same.

Mine run continuously. Matter a fact, if I leave them on high soon it will numb my butt. If you want the air to "circulate" some then you might need to move around a little to let it up your back but mine don't seem to ever decrease the air movement after they've been on for any kind of extended time (minutes or hours).

I have had the same issue. I was driving to the coast (about 2 hours) and about 30 minutes into the drive I could not feel the AC seats anymore, I could hear the air going but I could not feel a thing. I am going to mess around with it a little bit and see if I can see what is going on. Worse case I'll drop it at the dealers and let them fix it. (under warranty.)

I think what is happening is your butt is getting accustomed to the cooler temperature and it starts to feel normal. At first it feels cool and then eventually you don't notice it. The same principal when getting into the pool, at first its so cold that you have immediate shrinkage then over time the water doesn't feel so cold anymore even the though the water temp never changed. For long trips, I run the cooled seats to feel comfortable (but not cool) because otherwise the seats get warm over time.

Appropriate use of the term shrinkage. Nice work.

I have a post or two under "heated cooled seats" dealing with heated seat gets hot and cuts off after about 20 min. Overheats.. My seat cushion/cover started compressing at around 38k mi and obstructing flow. They replaced the fan first, then the foam seat cushion....ticket was already open before the mfr warranty ran out (41 k mi-I had 5k on it when I bought it) but.... I work out of the truck and put another 12k mi on the truck before I got any resolution so Ford says I'm s.o.l....repair parts are only warranted for 12k mi. This was all in Jan and Feb and last of April I'm already up to 57k mi. THE FAN RUNS CONTINUOUSLY IN COOL MODE!!! It is supposed to.. IN HEAT MODE IT SHOULD CYCLE ON AND OFF ABOUT EVERY 15 TO 30 SECONDS. If it cuts off on you, turn the truck off and restart and it should reset if it has gone into overlimit....and it may still take 10 min to reset during shutoff. That will indicate if it is going into overlimit. Interesting reading google T.E.D. related to heated cooled seats. Really cool stuff. Semiconductors and plates when you reverse polarity it produces heat or cool....My leather seat cover is compacted in the center and has a depression over the outlet from the fan....new seat cover $750.00 B.S....not covered under my extended warranty. It started at about 38k mi and now is useless as **** on a boar hog. The cooling is just in the center of the seat about a 4 in diameter spot just about the tater hole....and it used to spread all around seat and even under legs all the way to the front of the seat. Same with the heat....small area in center of seat hot till it cuts off... the words are roasted, toasted, broiled or boiled....for about 10 min till it overlimits. First thing to check is the round filter on the fan under the seat...according to what I have researched air obstruction due to clogged filter is most common cause.

My seats get so hot I turn em off within a few minitower before they cut off anyway.

My cooled seats cool until you turn it off and I usually have to turn it down or off after a while.

If u can't feel the heat or cool and its working, ur *** is too damn big

I bought a truck because my *** is big. I can't see myself in a mini cooper at over 300. Seat should work regardless.
