I find that comment rather insulting. This thread was started with a criticism about the Ford nav system. We all know that the nav system has the ability to calculate speed.... its probably doing it without being displayed. Some of us like data and information. Having a second mph display isn't a ridiculous request by any means. I can think of several examples where it would help.

Not wanting to stir debate - when would a second speedometer on the nav screen be an advantage? I would think one would be if you changed tire size and the main one would be off a bit. Other than that?

Yeah...the Audi and Peugeot trucks had better nav, but I wanted a v8.

Ford is quite popular in Europe but maybe you school them on a thing or two.

maybe they should stop focusing on being the best truck on the market and focus on having all kinds of fancy gadgets to keep the whiners happy. is a numeric display that big a deal?

No, its not that big a deal. It was just an observation and request made by a member. I read posts about folks tweeking and improving things on their trucks everyday. I've also read piles of suggestions on potential improvements, nothing different here.

I bet most of the folks that made negative comments about the nav mph request don't even have the factory navigation in their vehicles.

You definitely hit the biggest reason, checking speedometer. Its highly unlikely, but in the event you would lose your speedometer you would have a backup.

You are probably correct. I don't. I use my $80 Garmin two or three times a year when I need directions.

I imagine the reason they dont post the speed in the nav is two fold A: there is a fancy gauge in the dash that tells the driver how fast he or she is travelling and B: if the nav was of by a mile/km per hour or two from said gauge in the dash, there would be a lineup of people at the dealer upset about the difference. I have a nav in my truck and always have a reasonable idea of how fast i am going even though the nav does not tell me in digital format... For the naysayers, long live the garmin that displays the speed. i guess i am old fashioned and use an analogue (really digital with analogue display) gauge. Sorry for the sarcasm, long day at the office.
