Unhappy 2011 no digital speedometer?

I've read the manuals and it appears there is no way to have a digital (numerical) speed read out, is this correct?

We have the platinum trim with navigation.

Has anyone found a digital speed display? Or is there a nice aftermarket option?

You guys should probably go trade them in, what a bunch of POS for not having a digital readout.

I added a scan gauge II. I got it for reading codes and giving other information but it will give a numerical display of mph, rpm, or about anything else you would thing of.

There is a way, but you'll have to do it every time you start your truck. Before you start it, press and hold the OK button on the steering wheel and then start your truck. A menu intended for techs comes up and you can scroll through for a digital readout, but it defaults back to the previous screen when you restart the truck the next time.

Default Digital Spedo

I was pretty blown away when I got into my 2013 $50K F-150's Nav and found that it does not display speed. It shows the speed limit, but I can see no where does it display the speed you are actually traveling. I have a lot of GPS units, both lik 'em and stick 'em and in dash, and they all display speed. The other thing is that the dash display is crying out for a digital display. In that "Guages" option there is a big hole that could easily display the speed. I just wonder if Ford engineers ever bother to (A) drive the products they design, and (B) drive the European vehicles they compete against?

There was a bunch of hype last week about outside developers were going to be allowed to design apps for Sync. Anybody know anything about anyone doing a re-do of the nav system?

I wondered about this a while back. Why cant you display speed on you nav screen? With the sophistication of the system, this should be an easy option. There must be some other reason they didn't put it.

Even the top of the line Harley editions don't have it. We don't like the Harley so we settled with the Platinum with every option and for the price I am severely disappointed with the lack of digital display.

Half ton had a great tip, which I tried but he's right, you have to do it every time and it's just not going to happen.

I actually hate the nav system, we only bought it to have the backup camera read off the larger nav window (vs the rearview mirror). I much prefer my portable garmin, which I keep in the console for the times the (*#@$ ford nav can't find a damn thing. Plus the truck came with maps that are from 2009.... what is up with that? They are $250 or so to upgrade, you would think for over $80G's on a truck they would have updated maps.

We just purchased a van for my husband's business and found an aftermarket nav system that shows the rear camera in the nav window as well as digital speed read out, so there's no reason I can forsee that Ford can't do the same.

Love lots about the Ford, but the nav and lack of digital speed display really is lame. Does Ford have a feedback email or contact for customers to suggest things like this?

I shouldn't have to trade it in, Ford should have had the brains and skill to figure out that a Nav Unit should display speed. If they can't get that right what about the stuff you can't see? The best fix I can see for the Nav is to go to Costco and buy the Garmin and stick it right into the "Nav" corner of the center screen--it's about 5 times better than Ford's nav system--which is basically worthless other than being an advertising tool for Burger King.

Just out of curiousity, is anyone out there familar with GM's approach to this issue? Do their truck's systems display speed, and how do they approach the interface between the Nav System and data display panel on the dashboard?
