2011 lariat with rust!
2011 Lariat eco boost, 325 miles almost every metal part underneath the cab and bed is covered with rust and white powder that looks like salt. Purchased new 3 days ago. Before I left dealership I noticed rust on rear bumper. They said they would get me a new bumper. I thought ok, things happen. When I looked underneath saw rear axle and it is covered with rust completely, after closer exam almost all metal parts are rust covered. Do I have any recourse. Thanks Rodney.
I know the dealership here gives you 5 days to bring it back, no questions asked......
What legal recourse you have, depends on your state lemon laws...
Never heard of this with a ford before....
My 06 has hardly any rust underneath, just a couple of spots where metal overlays metal..

My 2011 Eco had quite a bit of rust on suspension and frame when I took delivery. I think it simply depends on when it was manufactured and where (weather there). Mine is from Detroit. I simply got under it with a wire brush and some high heat flat black spray paint and looks great. I figure it will be rusty soon (with use) anyway, so I am not too concerned with mine.

OMG another I have rust thread.............. here we go!!!!!!!
its normal all trucks have rust under them........... good steel rusts just a plain fact. As long as its not flakeing off in chunks its fine. If its on the body panels then you have a problem but cast iron or steel parts WILL rust no matter what you do.

Mine came undercoated with dust and some rust on differential. Took it to the Quarter ($1.50) car wash and got under it with the spray wand and tire bursh. Dust cleaned right up, Looks great under there. Mine looks like what I would expect for any metal part that is not coated/painted.
Also have run it through the regular brush car wash where they have the under carriage spray.
Figured all the dust came from the trip down.
All that should be covered under drivetrain warranty.
Here are some pictures from under my truck (4 weeks old)
Let us know what your dealer says.

You've likely a pile of rail dust. Rail dust happens from hot metal flakes coming off of the rails as a train rolls along that fly up and embed in surfaces.
I hate rail dust and have refused shipment on vehicles with it.

Pics would be nice.
It is mostly cosmetic and will not cause any issues mechanically. I heard of some places that can spray an undercoat or DIY Rust-oleum treatment after light sanding (<-- optional). Never hurts to ask the dealer for advice.
