2011 f150 gas mileage

Five-0 Ret.
ric, I don't disagree. I was used to buying a vehicle, and it actually doing better than the numbers on the window. I guess I say the 'big ol' truck" thing to help me enjoy the truck more. I still don't get the 17 mpg in town, and don't expect I ever will. I told the sales manager at the dealership that this engine does what I need it to do, but won't buy another. I'll go with the 5.0.

I've got a 5.0 scab and over my first 600 miles per the truck I averaged 17 mpg with a mix of highway driving and city driving and didn't really take it easy on the peddle and alot of the highway driving I was doing 75-80. How accurate is the truck mpg gauge?

Do you suppose there is something funky about the MPG computer? I have driven other cars and noticed that the mileage does not drop soo significantly when just sitting at a light or warming the truck up in the driveway. Of course it’s calculating that you are not moving and still burning gas, but it really seems to affect the computers mpg reading much more than other vehicles that I have driven. I stop at a long light and I see 16.5, 16.3, 16.0 …15.9. Stopping in my wife’s Toyota doesn’t seem to drop when standing like this. . Is it just me?
