Default 2011 f150 gas mileage

I have a 2011 f150 3.7L with a 3.73 gear ratio and am getting around 12mpg in the city. I do a little bit of highway driving included but am still not seeing the 17 mpg city mileage that was posted. I don't drive that far each day and hit a few lights and stop signs. Anyone else having poor gas mileage like me?

I'm guessing with the 3.73 you have a SCAB or SCREW. The mileage will increase as you break in the engine. Mine has 6500 miles, and has improved from the 12-14 mpg in the city, and the 19-20 on the highway. You driving habits will also have a big effect on your mileage. With the 3.73 you will lower the mpg's with jack rabbit starts from stop light to stop light. I don't think we will ever see the numbers on the window sticker. Closer to the numbers in the fine print. Also, the numbers reported by Ford were not from real world driving, they obtained by using federal CAFE requirements.

With all that said, remember it is a big ol' truck. Not notorious for good gas mileage, but much better than the past years models.

Yeah but when they advertise a specific number, you would like to be close. That is why the people are complaining, me included.

Ya same here I was hoping for better numbers at least 15 or so considering they advertise 17 city mpgs. I was beginning to think something was wrong with my truck since the mpgs were so low.

I have 2011 SCREW 4x4 with 3.73 with 1000 miles on it and last tank did 17 mpg combined I do have highway miles to work and not much stop and go driving. I was also pretty easy on the gas to see what it would do. Mine has the 5.0 in it

I get 10.5168 to 12.11236 general driving around town.
Highway mileage varies a bit more - 18.2351 to 21.8547.

2011 EB scab with 3.55 getting 12-13 around town on mostly short 10 mile trips. Mileage picks up on the hwy though, but not to the 20's unless I am going 55 or something.
