Default 2011 F-150 HID problems

I currently own a 2011 FX4 that I am on my second 6000K HID High/Low H13 kit into. From the begining they never worked properly ex: most often only one light will turn on if I turned the lights off and on a couple times it would finaly come to life. But now not even that will work and I only have one light working now. The obvios has been checked: fuse, grounds, bulb. Only thing left is the ballast.

I am ok with replacing the balast but do I also require an anti-flicker module on this truck or some other item to stop this from happening again and again.

Thanks for the help love the truck and don't want to be with out bright lights.

It's a sign that you need to do some retrofits

Unfortunatly I am not a big fan of aftermarket headlamps. Just my opinion.
Just wish I could get the stock units to work properly

I bought a pair of HIDs from DDM. After the third pair I had to threaten contacting the BBB before they'd give me a refund. Similar problems - one side wouldn't light, both sides would randomly just shut off, brights weren't compatible, etc.

Turned out for the best. I liked the look but I never could get them aimed just right. I was always worried I was blinding people so it didn't kill me to have to get rid of them.

1. Are you using a proper relay or just using the stock headlight wiring to power these HID's? Please tell me you are using a relay!

2. Where did you buy them from? If you paid less than 100 bucks, you probably got ripped off and they sold you crap.

3. Retrofit is not an aftermarket headlamp. Retrofit is using your factory headlight assembly and putting a PROPER projector lens inside of it so you have the proper housing to project the HID beam pattern. Whether you admit it or believe it or not, your light from those things is scattering all over the place and is blinding other drivers.

4. Call the shop who sold them to you and make them help you get it resolved

Try ztechid.com, I've had them for over 2 years now with no problems. Find what you want though and order through amazon or something to save some cash... thats what I did.

i had the same problem you had one light would work or one would shut off while driving. it got to the point where i had to turn them on and off a million times and i got sick of it. so i did a little research and ddm tuning makes a harness thats compatible with any h13 kit. basically what it does is gives equal power to both lights at start up. the problem your having is our stock wire harness, the wires are to small so not enough current is flowing equally to both ballasts.the harness im talking about took me about a half hour to hook up. i dont know if you can buy the harness by itself or you have to buy one with a kit heres the link to the hids i have but the harness your looking for is under HID HARNESS (Dual in, Dual out) on the link. i would email them and see if you could just buy that harness http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W. and heres a description of the harness im talking about Use this relay harness to connect HIDs to cars with very small gauge wiring that cannot supply the initial surge current required to light the bulbs reliably. Symptoms indicating the harness is required would be intermittent starting or lights going out after being turned on for several minutes and requiring you to turn the lights off and back on for them to turn back on again. Recommended for all 55W HID installations but most American and European cars work at 35W/55W without the harness. The harness is definitely recommended for Quad';s and other ATVs or when running multiple HID installations. This harness is a fused relay isolation harness capable of supplying 20A at 12vdc. Not required when using High / Low kits.

The kit I got is a Beamers kit and was over$200 CAN.

There most definatly is a relay kit In the harness.

I totally agree the light is spread allover and impossible to focus properly and would love to put a proper reflector in. If you have any information on this it would be greatly appreciatted.

I don't belive its a low voltage problem because it is running a Relay which ultimatly requires low voltage on the awitch side and is connected to the battery on the main power side. And the kit is a High / Low kit.

As for calling the shop that sold them to me, I am the shop and haven't heard any complaints from anyone I have sold other kits to. I will try calling the supplyer and see what they say. I can most likley get a new kit but with my experiance it is going tto do the same thing.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

For all of you who've had problems, is it an issue soon after going for a car wash?

I wonder if the new 2013 factory projector lights will work with previous models? Would be nice and an easy upgrade, with a cost i am sure but well worth the extra bucks to avoid these types of problems.
