Mine is pretty much 6th gear only. I lock it out on my drive home to make me want to drive it into a large tree a bit less.

You know.....it's a wonder that there hasn't been a class action suit formed yet about this shuddering issue !! I am ready to take my truck back to the dealer....hand them the keys...stop my payments...and let them call me when my truck is fixed !! Maybe if this happened to them a few times, something would really be done about the problem !! JMHO

Ford recall for a faulty torque converter. Although it doesn't affect F150's, it could be a sign of things to come. I just hope it doesn't take 6 years for a recall to come out for 2011 F150's.

I truly think its the torque converter. More ppl with the ecoboost are feeling the shudder because of the torque the ecoboost puts out. Since they have the same tranny the 5.0's like mine put less stress on the tranny.

And that's why ford is taking forever to fix the problem because they are like o sh*t this is going to cost a lot in recalls.

Here is what suprises me...

It states that the investigation into the torque converter defect was launched in 2009 due to 65 owner complaints about the vehicle and it then goes on to state that Records from National Highway Safety Transportation Administration show that Ford argued that it had a low complaint rate. AND there were two accidents that resulted from a failing torque converter.

CRAP - isn't there more than 65 complaints here? We should all complain to the National Highway Safety Transportation Administration.

Here is the web site.

If enough people raise concerns - maybe then Ford will do something.

I just looked at the concerns - enter the year, model, etc. - wow - read them on the site I just mentioned above.

Do we know for sure that the torque converter should unlock if we tap the brake at constant throttle? I know that happened in my last few vehicles. It doesn't happen in my 2011 EB screw.

I can get it to do it in other gears, thats why I perceive it as a different issue than the torque converter, or maybe theres multiple issues? If, for instance, I come out of a 30 mph zone and do a constant, medium acceleration to get up to the 55 mph speed limit, I can get it to shudder and miss. Seems to me this happens when I am accelerating by "increasing boost" rather than downshifting for higher RPM's. This would be like anywhere from 3rd-6th gears. Others have posted they can replicate this also. I can't get it to do it everytime, but I would say 50% of the time I can get it to do it in different gears.

I posted earlier about the shuddering. Mine started at 2,000 miles and no fix. Mine does it at the usual 6th gear 55/60 mph but also in 3rd and 4th gearr when I travel up our steep township road to get home. Some days I am not sure if I am going to make it to the top. My customer rep never returns my calls. I have had it in to the dealer 3 times. You need 4 times for the lemon law in WI. I think that is what I am going to pursue. I am retiring soon and this was supposed to be my ride for hunting/fishing trips around the US. Probably not! My initial mileage was in the 20+ range overall. Now I am at 17/18.
