Default 2010 fx2 ?

I just found this 2010 FX2 on a local lemon lot. 4.6L all original, 3 owner, 147,000 miles...

asking price $10,500. How is the 2010 model year. Anything special to look for? Problems?

Gotcha. I've never heard of it called that, not around here anyway. Wasn't sure if it was a place where they sold "lemons" at a discounted price or something lol.

I have no experience with the 2010 FX2 4.6s, but from my understanding the 4.6 is a pretty solid motor, although it is lacking some guts.

I'm from Johnston RI, just outside of Providence. You ever been here?

I think 10,500 may be steep for that kind of mileage. I can't speak personally to the 4.6 but a guy who does some work at my job sometimes has one going on 200k that he hasn't had any issues with. Does all the regular maintenance.

Look at it real heard for overspray, look underneath it. Comb over it. Drive it. Extensively if they'll allow you to.

In the end though, I think as long as there aren't any pre existing conditions, you'd be in good shape, if it was something you really wanted.

kbrock ... it (4.6) is lacking some guts.
2V - true. 3V (which this F-150 has) - FALSE - 292 hp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque

Would recommend scanning thru the TSBs (Technical Serivce Bulletins) - -HERE- ««« -click- *will need to register, but it NBD
And check-out the going prices for the vehicle at KBB.com

NOTE: Don't have any long-term experience with the 4.6L 3V (a year in the form of a - 2009 STX 4x4), but IMO a solid engine with very few issues (as you will see by reviewing the TSBs and the lack thereof).
Also ... See that according to KBB the price is not out-of-whack.

boatme99,

I don't know if you have made a purchase decision as of yet or not, but since this is my first post in this forum, allow me to introduce myself as follows:

Just over a year ago I bought a 2010 FX2 SuperCab similar to the one you are considering. Only mine is the darker metallic red. Anyway, it has the 4.6L V8 and I am very happy with it. It gets decent MPGs on trips and has enough power to easily pass people when I need to.

In my case, the choice was between a 2006 Lariat SuperCab 4x4 and this FX2. The Lariat had more bells and whistles, but it was older and had 74K miles. The one I now own had 31K at the time. It cost more but is newer, so that really wasn't a choice there. I don't need four wheel drive either.

Incidentally, before seeing pictures of the truck you are considering buying, I did not know that FX2 models had decals near the taillights similar to FX4 decals. Mine doesn't have those decals.

So there you go. Not a lot of info, no, but you had asked for opinions and that's mine - a hearty endorsement. As I said, I am VERY happy with my truck.

(mine came from a "lemon lot" as well as it had three previous owners)

Hi, sorry I didn't get back sooner, no I haven't been to Johnston. For 9 years I stayed at Goat Island in Newport for the summer. I got all around the southern part of the state but not up around Providence too much.

I grew up on Cape Cod, so I spent a lot of my free time going out there.

I love New England, if I could afford it, I'd still be spending my summers there!

My home for about 14 years.^^

Mrphilco, thanks for the input. It's tough to go wrong with a basic F150. This one is pretty nice and priced fairly. I'm hoping my brother can come up with cash before it's sold.
