Default 2010 F150 s crew issues

As a new Ford owner and recent convert from GMC I have to say I like the Ford so far. I only have two issues at this point with 4500 miles on the truck I have had the tires rotated at 1500 and 4000 miles due to the tread feathering. On my GMC's I never had tire cupping this fast and am a little concerned.

The other issue is a vibration between 1800-2000 rpm, it is an annoying droan kind of thing and is best replicated with the tranny in 3rd gear under slight load although it does it at the same rpm in every gear.

I took it to the ford dealer and they were able to duplicate but had no answers for either issue. They did an alignment at 1500 miles but the tires continued to feather after that. The tech took another new truck from the lot and said the same vibration occured on that truck as well.

Anyone else have these issues? Thanks!

Mine has a hole in the gas tank. I swear I fill it up and by the end of the week all that gas has leaked out.

I replaced my OEM wheels with Pirelli's with 5,000 miles on them for new after market rims and tires. The Pirelli's were badly cupped on the front. I too never had that issue with my Chevy trucks. That said, I love the Ford and all in all it's a far better vehicle than the Chevy.

Cupping is a phenomena related to the tire, not to the vehicle it is on.

My truck came with the Goodyear Wrangler SRA's. I have run all kinds of tires on all kinds of rigs and would tend to blame the rig as opposed to the tire when it comes to cupping.

This is my first Ford after many GM's and have had some vibration issues. The dealer finally swapped on a new set of Wranger SRA's, which made just minor improvement. Biggest change that has helped is changing tires over to nitrogen. Some may say I'm nuts, but it did improve the ride and reduced vibrations I was feeling.

The vibration on my truck seems Engine RPM related as opposed to tire related. I find it interesting that the Tech that worked on my truck compared it to a new one on the lot and said the new one had the same vibration so.....mine was "normal". He also acknowledged that the vibration/droan was annoying and posted it on the Ford tech hotline for help. I just happen to drive a road every day to work where the speed and RPM put me in the "droan zone" so to speak. The truck is smooth as can be when outside of the zone.

1000 miles so far.
No tire cupping
No engine, drivetrain, chassis vibrations at any rpm or speeds
I got 15mpg the first tank, 16mpg the second tank and it appears I'm getting a bit more mpg on this third tank.

I have the 20" clads with Pirelli scorpions (stock)
330ci with Max Tow (3.73 limited slip and humongous mirrors)

I really like my new Tow Rig.

The only reason Nitrogen is put into tires is that there is less moisture in nitrogen then in normal compressed air. Less moisture means the air pressure in the tire stays close or exactly what you set it at whether the tire is cold or hot. The moisture in the tire as the carcass of the tire heats up will make the pressure rise. That is why with normally compressed air you have cold and hot pressure settings. Sorry to say but that has nothing to do with the ride (unless tire pressures where way off to begin with) or any kind of vibration.
