So our new 2010 Platinum with just 7000 Km on it needs a new engine already! My wife took it out the other night and when she got in and started it up the engine was missing and the engine light was flashing. Took it into the dealer and they told my wife that one of the pistons has a hole in it and they are going to put a new engine in it now.

 

What kind of gas mileage were you getting?

 

I read "the engine was missing", and for a sec thought that you Canadians were getting the criminals we have in the US.

I'm also curious about MPG... wonder if the cylinder was going to pop its top earlier.

 

How did she start it if the engine was missing?

j/k man, that's terrible. Let us know if you hear anything else from the dealer. Pretty odd for sure.

 

Must be one of those "5.4 iron block POS" engines mentioned on another thread.

Yep, it probably was one of those POSs! Or, maybe it was one of those 4.6 iron block POSs!

Probably running lean on that cylinder and it burned a hole in it from the increased heat on that cylinder...possible problem with the injector maybe....strange....
