2009 Stereo Install....
Anyone have pictures or know the process for getting the dash piece off and the stereo out in a 2009?? Also, is a "ford interface" required, or do I just need my new head unit and a wiring harness?? Getting my Alpine CDA-9886 this week and anxious to get a head start.
I havent started my install yet since its freezing here on the east coast....but if im not mistaken the 09-10 do not have an ACC wire available since it uses a Canbus, so the interface usually supplies this. My wifes 2006 Jeep used a canbus system also , so instead of getting an interface for the kenwood nav i put in, i ended up finding an ACC wire near the ignition( i think) or in the kick panel, and just ran the wire up to the radio, and saved myself the money of not buying the interface.

TRy not to confuse the terminology...that will justt get you in more trouble. A "remote" wires job is to turn on other products, ie amps, eq's etc. The remote wire comes from your new radio. An aftermarket radio only needs 3 wires connected to actually turn on. 1. Constant power (+12V) this is so that your clock radio keeps the time even when you shut the car off. 2. Acc wire -This wire gets (+12V) when the car is turned on. 3. Ground - can connect this to any palce that is connected to the chassis of the car.
Now most cars that use a Canbus system, do not have an ACC wire right behind the radio. Ever notice how the radio stays on till you open your car door? thats b/c the Canbus system is telling the radio to stay on even though the car is off, and to wait till the first door is open. Canbus units use Txt signals to talk back and forth with other things in the car, so this TXT signal is not an Acc wire.
As Raptor stated, you mgiht be able to find a ACC wire in the kick, and just route that up to your radio.
as for the "built ford tough" display, i believe it will stay blank without an interface. But since i havent done my install yet, i dont know if the interface will still keep that. Also the interface is about $170 which keeps the Sync system, it might keep the Built ford tough display. But if you arent using the sync with the aftermarket radio...why spent $170 to have it tell you your truck is built tough
word. thanks a bunch for the clarification!!

Id just get the wiring harness, so that you can put everything back together easily when you either sell, or just put stock back in.
