Default 1st to 2nd shift

The first to second shift on my 2014 XLT 5.0 is a bit aggressive, is there an update for this?

Thanks

Is this a continuous problem or just on first start up? Is truck up to running temp when this occurs? Bring it to the dealer or get a custom tune

In my 2011 5.0 there was but I am sure it is included in 2014. I would search forum more.

I've got the opposite issue in my 11...I say issue because as of now I dont consider it a problem. From a cold start when shifting into reverse it's a little on the aggressive side but nothing terrible. After just a few moments smooth as butter.

The shift from 1 to 2 when going slow in line of traffic, after stopping and then starting out again, tooling around in a parking lot, etc. is more than "aggressive" in 2012 eco. I had the TSB reprogram done and it did not help at all. The truck still does it. You can't duplicate it, it just happens, cold or hot. Mostly happens when doing the above as stated. Really hard when you almost stop, but take your foot off brake and kinda "idle" along. It will really bang then. I don't think they have a clue.

Dave, I had this problem on my 11 a while back. I found a TSB and talked the dealer in to flashing it for me. It has since been much better but will still act up, albeit less frequently and violently, in traffic or in a parking lot as you described. It's so annoying.

My next step is to find someone to befriend who has a Ford IDS. The IDS manual indicates an option to halt the adaptive learning and I am wondering if that persists through ignition cycles. I believe that may be the issue since it never really stops trying to adjust. Most transmissions that are "set" you can get to know and be able to control shifting with a little more/less throttle - for example holding it just shy of the 2-3 in a parking lot - but this adaptive thing will just keep adjusting to your new lighter pedal input! Sigh.

Yea, my '11 occasionally gets a harsh 1-2 shift and only at light throttle.

I have a ecoboost and had a tsb done recently and they reflashed the PCM and I seem to be having the same problem you described. It's extremely annoying and usually stops after 30 minutes of driving.
