Default 03 Bed Extender in 2012 bed

Anyone know if a bed extender from an 03 will work with a 2012? Or do you have to have the new folding bed extender? Thanks

Default Different

I "think" the hardware hole sizes are different. Not sure where to tell you to check that out. My son just traded an '06 for a '12 and his old extender hardware wouldn't fit the '12 bed.

It'll work. And you can usually find them on CL for about $35-ish.

^^that pic is from my '09 but it also fits in my '12.

.....but '09 thru '12 are the same bed. Not sure which way the '08 goes but '07 and back are different. The OP is asking if an '03 will work in a '12 bed.

Sorry - I see your question now. The extender in the pic was supposedly off a 2006 model. I am a little doubtful about the '03 working. Any chance you can test fit prior to purchase?

Thanks guys. Yes I am hoping to go test fit Saturday. I was just trying to save a trip if anyone knew for sure if it didn't fit. The '03 looks like the same as Sharper4's '06 extender. So I am hoping it works. Just can't see spending a couple hundred for a folding one if a fixed used one works

My dad took his off his 01 king ranch to put it on his 07 kind ranch and it didn't work at all. He ended up selling it or cheap. So I don't think it'd work in a 9-13 model.

rdkev ... it is a royal POS. ...
Disagree. Added a 2009+ bed extender after purchasing my 2011 without one.
  • sturdy.
  • easy to use.
  • folds and stows conveniently out of the way.
  • in general ... a quality accessory.
