Default 0 for 2 on my ESP!

Well, I've just about had it with Ford. I bought my 2010 Platinum in Sept./10 and bought the Premium Ford ESP thinking it would likely get used. Well I've taken it in for the rear defrost not working and it isn't covered under the ESP and now I've taken it in for the power running boards not working and they aren't covered either! What a waste of my money getting the Premium ESP! This was my first Ford and it's looking to be my last one too. My dealer doesn't even want to try and help me they just shake their head and say theirs nothing they can do. Unbelievable when you spend this much on a truck and you get no help from them. And with both of these items they have to replace the entire part (back window and running boards with motors), no parts are replaceable, but I guess I should expect that because anything you buy today it's plug n play with everything, there's no replacing individual parts.

Sounds like you need a different dealer.

Which ESP did you purchase? And what's the term. When I bought my '11 Lariat I purchased the PremiumCare ESP for 60/60,000 (5yr or 60,000 miles). I just looked at the paper work. It states under "Electrical"- Heated backglass (electrical only-Not glass damage or Breakage). Also states under "Electrical"-Power Running Boards. So, if you are still covered under your term, either take it to another Dealer, or contact Ford, or Both.....

My ESP was the 84/150000 Km plan and I am at approximately 103000 Km.
I just pulled out the ESP brochure and it states under Electrical "Heated backglass (electrical only - not glass damage or breakage), and Power running boards" WTF!
I am definitely contacting Ford and I will likely go to another dealer, which I don't understand. I thought that anything under warranty gets paid to the dealer by Ford anyway? Am I missing something here?

Steve, the warranty is basically a contract. Before you take it in make sure you know exactly what is, and isnt, covered. Along with what can void it. Now that you have read it make sure you take it in with you and show them the exact verbiage.

I hear you, SteveY. I encourage you to visit your preferred dealer, as they're best to address your warranty related questions. To locate the nearest, use this link: http://www.ford.ca/dealerships/locate/ Please fill me in on how the visit goes and the odometer reading; I'll see how to lend a hand.

Steve ... I have to ask ... when you brought in your truck for these two issues, did you have a copy of your ESP Contract to show them? If not, they may not have known whether or not those items are covered, and by default said they are not (since you were not "proving" to them that you paid for that specific coverage.

if you DID show them the contract and they still said "no" ... that's another issue in and of itself that needs to be dealt with by you, Ford and the dealer as a group. I'm sure if that's the case, Kwasi (post above mine) or Crystal (another ford rep on this site) can help you get that squared away.

I really hope the dealer wasn't/isn't just trying to screw you ... that would be pretty low. But if they are, this definitely needs to be brought to the attention of someone with more authority over that particular dealer.

hope you get it all worked out.

I will admit I never had the copy of my ESP with me, I just assumed they had all the info in the computer and would know exactly how to deal with it. The service manager (whom I talked to) said in the past he has had the glass and running boards replaced under the factory warranty but not the extended one. I will be taking my paperwork in with me and likely will visit a different dealership too.

Word of advice to anyone with the Ford ESP.

Always keep a copy of it in the truck for reference. That would have saved you a second trip to the dealer.

Never "assume" that a Service Manager knows what is going on. Some are really sharp, and some are not. As with all people.

If it is covered you'll be able to pay 100$ as well. Man when I asked the finance guy to refund me the ESP he was crying so hard. What a ripoff that scam is.
