Question Mud Flap Clearance

I have a 2012 FX4 and it is currently running on stock tires and rims. I want to put 275/70/R18 or 295/65/R18 Duratracs on in place of the 275/65/R18s on the stock rims and no level or lift.

my concern is I have installed plasticolor rubber mud flaps and they seem to clear the stock tires fine (i have not run through any serious mud or show yet) and am wondering if any of you have had clearance/rubbing issues with 33" tires while backing up or running through heavy mud and snow? I am worried about tearing off a flap. My back flaps are installed at 10.5" off the ground with the stock tires and I have not installed the front ones yet but I was thinking 9" for them

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, don't everyone answer at once.

Your flaps are plenty high. I made my own on my 05 and they woudnt tear off. Even in snow up to the doors.

you haven't had any issues with pinning the flaps btw your tire and a stiff rut while backing up? what did you make your flaps out of?

I had stock tires and the only time they rubbed was in that deep snow in reverse.

Only stock tire but I know a few guys with larger tires that did the same.

I used 1/4" 2'x3' rubber sheets cut down. I had intentions of getting flap weights and making pro flaps but I sold the truck.

The sheet metal screws and washers may have been overkill but they weren't about to rip out

If you end up with not enough clearance you can get the DuraFlap lifted truck brackets to move your mud flaps back away from the tires. Than just remove the mud flaps for off roading.
This is not my truck, but thought you would want to see it.
