Default Icon suspension

I'm currently runing a 3" spacer leveling kit on my 2012 4x4 lariat. It rides rough and my tires rub on my upper control arm due to the bad angle. I'm running toyo mt 35x12.50x20. I'm looking to get my ride quality back but keep my height. I had a 2.5 on before and it did not sit level. I like the height of the 3". Has anyone in here have any experience runing the icon struts? If I get the icon strut will I still have the bad angle and will my tires still rub? Much help would be appreciated. I'm trying to get some ride quality back

There are two parts to your query.

1) your truck will ride better with ICONs
2) IF you run the ICONs toward the top of their limit you will still suffer similar problems because you are replicating the angle just with an adjusted coilover instead of a spacer. You might solve the rubbing issue with either a different offset wheel or an upgraded set of UCAs. You may still have axle binding issues at that height.

If it proves problematic to raise the front to level you could lower the rear either with a smaller block or a set of 'LT' shackles. The shackles will drop the back about an inch.

Lowering the height, changing the wheel offset or even running spacers may help with the rubbing.

The ICONS are night a day better then the factory stuff or other 2.0 replacement shocks. Very smooth riding, but as WarSurfer said the more spring preload you add the stiffer the ride.

So if I run the icon upper control arms will they guarantee me not runing with my 35x12.50 tires. are they longer control arms?

Couldn't say for certain. Check with ICON, they should be able to tell you what size/offset fits. It's possible they are a tad more narrow. They are not longer, otherwise they wouldn't fit unless paired with longer LCAs.

Not sure about your Toyo's but my old Nitto Trail Graps in that same size were actually 13.5" wide. They are not a true 12.5" width tire. If the Toyos are the same that is also contributing to your rubbing issue.

I'm pretty sure you need a min. Backspace of 5" to get them to fit.

Aftermarket Wheels & Tires: 17" or larger wheels with max 5" back space (some 16" Wheels may fit) Tires: 33" or 35" x 12.50

But like UFLBret said, those tires tend to run a bit wide.
