If I was to change to a +18 or +25 offset would that make a big difference? I live in Maine and it's illegal to go beyond the fender and I really don't want to add fender flares. If it's just a little poke I would probably get away with it. Just curious if maybe I should consider a different wheel.

Is rubbing more likely with the more positive of an offset?

Rubbing starts to accrue when the off set of the wheel is negative.. normally 0 offset puts a normal size tire even with the fender. Negative off set starts to push the wheel and tire outside the fender wheel and this is where the rubbing will start.

Techrep I really appreciate all your input. How much difference is a +12 to +18 to +25? Is this a matter of fractions of an inch or many inches? Thanks

Ok. Does a 12 wide vs 11 wide tire have any impact?

Here's a website that allows you to punch in your wheel's specs, and tells you how much your wheel/tires will stick out. You can compare 'em to stock, and/or plug in any combo you want to see what'll happen:

So I'm using an offset calculator to compare my stock tire/wheel combo to a few different new tire and wheel combos. Which measurement should I be concerned about for rubbing? The top of the tire to the fender well, inner sidewall to suspension and frame or just how much farther the tire pushes out? Thanks

you gotta watch out for both.. but, rubbing on the control arm will be a show stopper ... at least for me.
