Default Widest Tires I can get???

What are the widest size tires I could get for 16x8 rims. I wanna go 285/75/R16, but was wondering if i could go bigger then that?

305 70 16 is what i have on my pops silverado on a 16x8

yah he bought it 6 years ago doesnt have 20k miles yet. its his baby.
