Default Venoms vs Toyos. Just can't justify the price difference...

I know there are a lot of "ItS ThE oNlY tHiNg BeTwEeN yOu AnD tHe RoAd" people in these forums but I just paid $268/tire for a set of 33x12.50R20 Venom Power Trail Hunter R/T's. Compare those to the Toyo Open Country R/T 33x12.50R20 at an average of $460-$500/tire and even if I get 10-15,000 less miles out of them I'm still "miles ahead" (see what I did there) staying with the Venoms. They're basically the same tire, and IMHO the Venoms look WAY better that the Toyo's do, but again that's my opinion. And when it comes to handling/safety, I just got off of set of 35" Toyo R/T's on my last truck and they handled like poo in the rain...

actually prefer the look of the venom's. As long as they balance out, i see no issue. Balancing seems to be the biggest deterrent when it comes to these cheap tires. Having a reputable dealer to get you replacements is key.

I personally wouldn't run either, or feel the need to "justify" running inferior tires. Falken will get me money as long as they make the Wildpeak AT3W. Best tire this 50 year old has ever ran. Period.

What proof, like actual proof do you have that these tires are "inferior"? Or does a cheaper price equate inferior in your book?? I can pay a $20 cover charge at a local bar and hear better singers that some $500 ticket prices these days...

I can post as many or more positive reviews from people that love them and have had zero problem balancing them. Like it's always said on these forums, people are far more likely to leave a review when they have a bad encounter than when everything goes well. For all of the positive reviews I've read, I feel very confident in my decision to save $1000 on my tires. But hey, go ahead and spend that dough big dawg...

Good, I go by negative reviews as they are more meaningful in the long run. Enjoy your tires. FWIW, I paid $1,200 for my Falken Wildpeak AT3W 295/70/18 and I got a quality tire, not some crap-shoot.

That's cool, and not looking to argue with you. But this thread was comparing the Venom R/T and the Toyo R/T since they are closer to apples to apples. Your tire is nothing like either of those, but super happy you like it. That's all that matters at the end of the day.

so this is a review post but just a review based on looks and price?

Have you ran both on the same or similar truck? What are the reviews on them in the new truck. I actually hate the way tires are reviewed because the majority go off of user reviews anot actual testing of the tire in specific elements...there are a few good youtube reviews out there that do comparisons.

Glad you like the venom tires, i wont try them mainly because of the reviews and price...no, price isnt everything but to imply that a company is able to sell a tire at double the cost just based on brand isnt something i can believe...yeah, tires, brakes, and toilet paper...you pay for quality and gget clean hands, lol

Everyone has their level of comfort. I'll make sure to leave an honest review on these tires once I get a couple thousand miles on them.
