Default Tire size question

I swear I need a primer or someone with a lot of patience. I have an 06 F150 with factory rims and tires. I would like to put wider and/or taller tires on it. So I am assuming I need new rims is that right? I don't want to go too big because I don't want to have to start replacing stuff. BTW I only drive on highways.

How big do ytou want to go? If you have 255's now you should be able to go with 275's wich are a big tire, unless you want new rims then you could go bigger. But when you alter a stock truck the door opens for replacing parts even though you dont want to.
I have a 2 wheel drive truck and in the summer it has 315/55/16's on the back and 270/55/16's on the front.

Default Tire size calc

You should be able to go a little bigger or to a truck tire on the same rim. Here is a good tire size calculator.

Right now stock since tires and rims together cost a fortune and the wifes Trailblazer is going to require tires also.

Thanks for the calculator also.

you know craigslist.com is a great sight to find stock tires and rims, i just sold my 275/65/18s on their for 500 with the chrome rims im sure if u do a little searchin around you may be able to find someone selling a kind of new and rim tire combo. 285 or 305 should be great also.
good luck pay attention to the stock back spacing if you do want new rims keep them very close.
