Default Tire Recommendation

Needing a new set of tires for my wife's 2015 Expedition. Anyone have a good recommendation for a light A/T or a little more aggressive H/T that will be great in the Montana winters? Pretty much all city/highway, but we do run some gravel and tow every so often with it. I would say I am wanting the best winter performing A/T tire that is not super aggressive. We will be putting a lot of nasty winter highway miles on this rig for the next 5-10 years. Thanks in advance!

BFGoodrich K02 are very popular for many reasons and they are snow rated as well. Extremely civilized on/off road and no noise on the hwy.

I just put KO2's on my '03 F150, and agree with the comments above. If your looking for something a little less aggressive, the Firestone Destination AT' s have performed well on my wife's Escape.

I had Bridgestone Dueler A/T's put on my truck. I haven't experienced them in the snow, but from what I've read they handle well. I can say that they ride nice and quiet on the highway.

Cooper Discoverer ATW is your tire.

Made in USA, based on the AT3 which is an award-winning tire, perfect for snow, mileage warranty, good fuel economy.

You won't get that in a BFG tire, from my experience running multiple sets of them.

Continental just came out with what looks to be an excellent all terrain tire.
Made in the USA and tested for over 2 million miles before launching the final product.
Great warranty and they're quality is usually top notch.
I believe it's worth a consideration...

Either BFGoodrich A/T KO2's or Dick Cepek Extreme Country M/T's.. All I've ever used were the BFG KO's and NEVER had a problem with them on or off road, wet or dry including snow. Been great tires that in my opinion or the only way to go. They will be my new tires on my new to me 2010 FX4 once I can afford them... Now to the DC EC tires. A few friends have them and have for a while and swear by them. They look great and seem to handle well on and off road. Now, like I said. I have never had them myself, but worth a look at least. Like any tire, it's personal choice in the end as the what works best for your needs.

Contradiction in terms. A/T tires are not good winter tires. Many posts discussing winter tires including this point. You said "a lot of nasty winter highway miles", which means you should strongly consider a set of winter tires.

This thread has a good discussion of the topic as well as a link to Consumer Reports tire ratings including winter tires.

Much depends on whether the Expedition is 4x4 also. If you do go with winter tires and another set of wheels, make sure you buy new TPMS sensors for the new wheels.
