Default General Grabber A/Tx

Got tired of my stock tires looking undersized with my 2" level, so I finally put new ones on last week. I had KO2's on my last truck and was planning on going with them again, but I couldn't find the size I wanted at a decent price locally. I started reading reviews on TireRack and the General Grabber A/Tx gets the highest rating. I really liked the look and price, so I had my local Tire Discounters get me a set. These things are awesome. Very quiet and a smooth ride. I went with the LT285/60 20's (33.5") and they really fill out the wheel wells like they should.

I was wondering what air pressure you run in them. Mine rides like a tank at 42 psi. I dropped it down to 38 psi and it is a little better.

I run mine at 50psi. I’m more concerned with mpg than the ride.

I lost about 2 miles to the gallon when I moved from my factory tires to these.

I think I am going to get these for my 2002 SCab FX4. Price and rating both seem very good. How do you like them (those that have them)?

I like them a lot. I have about 12000 miles on them. They have a little noise, but not bad if that is a factor for you. I am running them at 38 psi and the ride is a little softer. If I had one complaint, I run a lot of gravel roads and rocks will stick in the tread. When I get up to highway speed the rocks come out and come out hard. I have factory rims so my tires don't stick out beyond the fenders except a tiny bit. I have a couple nice rock chips on the side of my truck from that.

I've only had mine for a short time, but there is nothing about them I don't like so far. I have been able to get in and out of some local boat launches in 2wd that I normally needed to use 4wd to get in and out of with all the rain we have been having lately.

Ride so far is good I run them at 40 psi and its about the same as what my truck rode like with the stock 20" Goodyear's.

I haven't done much highway driving yet but that will change next week. I am going on a 10 day fishing trip over the 4th and have about a 4.5 hour drive on the highway to get there, so I will see how loud they are then. I will be driving off road a lot once I am up there, and feel like these will be a huge improvement over the stock Wrangler AT adventure's. Here is a picture of them on my truck, I went with 275/70r17's on stock suspension.

I ran these on my old GMC and now i have a 21 STX that I'm seriously considering putting them on in a 27/65/r20 but I'm scared it will destroy my ride quality.

What was the change in ride going from a P rated to these?

They’re definitely a firmer ride. But, they’re an LT tire versus a P tire, so it’s expected. They’re great on the Highway, with a slightly louder ride than my stock tires.

My MPG’s took the biggest hit. I averaged about 17 combined city/highway with my stock tires. With the Generals, I’m getting about 14.5 after calibrating my speedo and running an 87 octane 5 Star tune. But, she’s quick! I also have a 93 octane performance tune, but haven’t tried it yet. Waiting to hit 36k miles.
