Default General Grabber A/TX

P265/70r17.

I like these a lot so far. Extremely quiet on the highway for an AT tire and they balanced out perfect and are super smooth.

Prior to these I ran two sets of Firestone Destination AT which I always had good luck with. Tried Cooper Discoverer AT3’s in LT load C and hated them. Tire shop went through 12 different tires and could never get them to balance well. Weren’t great in the snow, etc. Went back to Firestone.

Glad I gave these Generals a try. The A/TX replaced the AT2.

Note: I’ve had this truck for 11 years. I know there are higher end more expensive tires out there. I’m not keeping this forever and didnt want to spend a ton.

Got these 4 tires shipped to me for $658 out the door and they also sent me a $100 visa gift card. Theoretically making the set $558 shipped.

Yeah, I see they are rated #1 over at Tire Rack in the all terrain catagory. I've looked at these to and all reviews that I've read or watched have been good. If you can remember, how do they compare brand new to your Destination AT's when they were new, ride quality, noise etc.

They’re very very similar as far as ride quality and noise. I’ve really been impressed by how quiet and smooth they are. I can’t say anything about winter traction, but they do have the 3 peak mountain symbol meaning they’re rated for snow.

Im running these at 40psi and also ran the Firestone’s at the same. Both were P metrics with max 44 psi. The door jamb on my truck says 38 psi and 40 has always worked. I’ve run that pressure the since I bought the truck.

The deal on these right now was just too good to pass up. Already got the $100 visa gift card meaning I only paid $558 shipped.

FWIW, the Firestone Destination AT we’re always a great tire. Had two sets. I guess they’ve been redesigned and are now the Destination AT2 and also come with the 3 peak mountain symbol.

Edit: I will say the Grabbers do look just a bit more aggressive than the Destinations. Some might like that, some might not.

The Destination A/T2 while still classified as an all terrain is going to be geared more for the person who spends most of their time on the highway but want a tire that can handle light off road use. However, the new Destination X/T is more aggressive tread and more like the ATX. Firestone is fazzing out the old AT and replacing it with two new Destination tires. The A/T2 will be P metric only and X/T LT only.

Unfortunately there few if any reviews as they have only been available since August.

PS. I also been reading some positive reviews on the Falken Wildpeak AT3W.

They look good, I have always been intrigued as they seem to be very similar to KO2s

Keep us posted on snow performance

I’ll gladly update once we get some snow. I’m in Vermont so it’ll be here sooner than later.

I will be looking to upgrade from my factory tires before next winter, these are at the top of my list. I would be interested to hear how these have been performing in the snow.

Thanks

I have a 2wd truck. With 460lbs over the rear axle I have driven all winter here in Vermont. We’ve had a few decent storms. They seem to bite well and I’m very happy with them. I’ve gone up a few snow covered hills that in years past I’d start to spin out halfway. These tires got me up the hill and griped the whole way.

super quiet on the highway. Especially for the tread. They also balanced out perfectly smooth. Something I can’t say for the Firestone’s or coopers I had prior.

for the price, you probably can’t find a better AT tire.
