Default 35's drain power?

Hey guys I was wanting to get some 35's on my truck but a buddy told me they would kill my power is this true? And will a 3 inch leveling kit plus an extra inch and a half in the back hold 35's?

Yes its true. Along with the extra weight and rolling resistance turning a larger heavier tire, bigger tires raise your final drive ratio in turn making your engine have to work hard to turn them.

Depends on whether your 2wd or 4wd, how much local shops charge, how much parts cost ect. Ive seen shops around here charge $500-$1000 an axle to do gears. Shop around.

I would advise not putting a 3" leveling kit on, it puts way to much stress on your front end. It doesn't sound like much of a difference but I would only put a 2.5" kit on, if it were my truck.

Fords are so slow you wont be able to tell it loosing any get up and go. You will loose a little bit a torque but these trucks do well with pulling out of the hole. We had a guy with 35s and he pulled a trailer and loaded the truck with tires regularly without a problem.

I can't speak for the 5.0 trucks. As Ford has finally figured out how to make power that the LS engines have been making since 2000. So your 5.0 truck might be fast, but anything with a 4.6 or 5.4 is slow as molasses in 30* weather, Lightnings included. Take your 5.0 to the track and let me know what it runs because I am curious. I know the new 5.0 mustangs finally got respectable and you no longer need an engine swap to make them fast so the trucks should be similar.
